Ganesha was lovingly inviting Sri Hari, the sustainer of all beings and chanting His mantras. He was living in a secluded place, glowing like all heavens, with the Divine showering grace on Him!

One day, Tulasi approached the ever glowing Sri Ganesh. She remarked that she was beautifully astonished by the grace and glaze of Sri Ganesh. She ended up asking Him about the mystery that He carried within Him! In actuality, She was attracted by the Divinity of Lord Ganesh and wished for a suitable husband as Him!

The Lord was engrossed and submerged in Divine devotion. And here, a woman was approaching Him to be her husband! She was a grown up lady, also not someone out of her mind or mad, and she was speaking such things infront of someone doing penance! Lord Ganesh noticed this utter lack of mindfulness and mannerless behaviour and cursed her to be a tree!

Tulasi was taken aback. Only when the words of curse were spoken out by Lord Ganesha, did she realise the gravity of Her mindless behaviour. Instantly, she dropped down low, lying on the ground seeking apology from the Lord.

The Lord melted. He advised her to do bhakti of Lord Hari.

Years later, Tulasi began submerging Herself in Sri Krishna’s love in the sentiment of devotion. She longed for Sri Krishna, the perfect purusha to be her husband.

In a different lifetime, when Tulasi was born in a new body, Nature made her marry Shankhachooda, who was a demon. Shankhachooda, in his past life was Sudama. The two Hari bhaktas (devotees) were now together, not knowing about each other, unknown to the providence.

Later, as story unfolds, Tulasi also became a plant. It is a plant revered as Goddess in many Hindu households.
