The story of Sage Veda Vyasa seeking blessings of Lord Ganesha
Sage Bhrigu had heard Ganesha Purana from the revered saint Sage Veda Vyasa. Upon insistence by King Somakant, he vowed to pass down the beautiful knowledge of Bhagwan Ganesha’s leela (divine play) to him and hence, looked at him with a merciful eye. It felt like an initiation (deeksha) into Bhagwan Ganesha’s upasana (worship) to the king and within a blink of an eye, his pain in the body began to diminish. The astonished King Somakant understood the immense grace of Ganesha that fell upon him and reverently listened to the sage, not wanting to miss anything!
Well, things were not easy for Veda Vyasa too. It seems that the universe keeps certain things hidden and unless one invokes the energy of the Universe, such tasks become impossible. Sage Veda Vyasa confidently started writing the Puranas straightaway as guided by calling of his heart. He is credited with writing down our history along with the stories of grace and it happened thousands of years ago.
