Story of Daksha, Ballal’s biological father

As previously revealed in this series (Lord Ganesha- 7), Ballal cursed his own biological father before winning Lord Ganesha’s favour. It is an anomaly if one has to look into today’s ways. Telling children stories about Sri Ram or Shravan showing respect and duty to their own parents sounds like a strangely in today’s environment. These kinds of anecdotes are told by parents, the most of whom undoubtedly mean well, in order to instil in them the values of politeness and helpfulness.

However, having good intentions do not equate to having good parenting skills. The parents of Sri Ram and Shravan did not stop their children’s spiritual development; rather, they fostered it and instilled a feeling of responsibility in them too. The youngsters are frequently not told the stories of Prahalad or Ballal in this light. Ballal’s father desired that his son abandon bhakti and devote all of his attention to transforming himself for the validation of society, whereas Prahalad’s parents disparaged his ishta — Lord Vishnu. Their prioritization of status above spiritual development frequently left Prahalaad and Ballal feeling that their own parents’ actions were inappropriate. After all, biological parents are also merely carrying out their karma; therefore, for the one who is fervently devoted to the Divine and making the necessary sacrifices eventually…
